Hi all-
Just wanted to introduce myself to the community. I'm an owner/broker of a firm called Estate Realty down here in Sunny Costa Rica.
Look forward to contributing to the board.

Of course I see ads all the time promoting Costa Rica real estate.
The closest I have been is Honduras, although my daughter has been
there.
How is the market there?

Hello!
I'm proud to report the market is very strong. Many people are choosing Costa Rica for living and retirement due to the value they receive in their community. When compared to FL and CA, CR provides more "bang for the buck."
Many businesses are relocating here, and the infrastructure is constantly growing. Life is good!

I have heard that the government is stable. What assurances do
Americans have when they buy down there that there investments
are safe?

Yes, the government is extremely stable. Costa Rica is a peaceful country, and doesn't even have an army.
As far as being safe investments, when you purchase property here it is held in an S.A. (like an LLC in the U.S.) You can buy the owner's existing S.A. and take over the company, or have a new, fresh one take over. I've been involved here for 7 years and can say it's every bit as safe as buying property in the U.S. I do highly recommend using a reputable, referred attorney, however. I have seen some people buy property and take over the existing S.A., only to see that S.A. wasn't properly investigated, and that it had liabilities, which the new owners assumed.
Hope that helps....

Interesting, we don't hear much about Costa Rica here in the state. I guess that is because it is stable and the news only report on unstable countries. I do here it is a good place to vacation.
