Hi everyone !
Not that I'm too good, but I already have a bunch of forums I go to. I'm frech Canadian and posting english is more time consuming for me, if I do too much posting, I don't get my stuff done. I don't have real-estate sites anyway, so I'm not gonna be bothering you guys.

Joc,
It's me, Matt Pellerin. I know you from REW and SEO-guy's forum. My handle at both is Phoenix Real Estate Agent.
I was just screwing around since I saw that you registered and never said hello. :o
I was not implying that you would be a bother here. I was just trying to have some fun with you and post a hello "from" you. We need some funny avatars and comments like yours here. :)

I registred just to reserve my name here, I do the same thing every since I was a little too late on site point (http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/member.php?u=25750) which is weird because I signed up there in Jan 2003 but already SiteTutor was taken by my former partner who then sold sitetutor.net (my first forum).
But hey ... life goes on

Joc,
Say, we need some serious smilie help. Got any public smilies you could share with the owner of this forum, SiteTutor?

Sorry, I don't really know about that. On seo guy I just play the mod, I don't have anything to do with anything else on the forum.

Isn't it cool though when you go on a brandnew forum and everyone seems to recognize you?
I am a moderator at AgentsOnline as well and it's nice to see familiar faces wherever I go.
You're doing a great job on seo guy's forum, sometimes being there can be enough to keep the peace. Especially when you have an avatar that scarres some ppl to death :D

It's cool to be known a bit. I been floating on the forums for a few years now, so I always see people I know or saw on an other forum. Seo chat was my spot before and I did meet a lot of people there and on seo guy forum also of course.

For me it's mainly Digitalpoint and Sitepoint but seo guy and sometimes seochat (but seochat has become pretty lame). And of course a couple real estate forums as well.

It was the best before, but it started to have too much noise... people don't search to find their answer before they post. There are people worth being read there. Dazzlindonna, Egol, PK_synth... but there are a lot of threads I don't even look at. I guess all forums that gets too busy may become like that if it's not moderated properly.

Sorry if I seemed like I was dissing them. I just kinda "burned out" on seochat. Also there are mods over there who spend less time on seochat than forums like digitalpoint where they are not mods. The vibe is often what attractcs members.

Mods are not paid, so they can't really be picked on. Maybe some mods started to have more fun on the other forums, can't control that. At least if they show up, it's already that... lol

Answering the same questions 50+ times is the downfall of ALL forums.

I agree, it happens a lot, it kills conversation. I have seen it on many forums, one example being resource zone but of course that is not regular forum.
Lesse faire is the best way to go, Jocelyn knows what this means (and some others ;) )

My dad and his side of the family are French Canadian... try "Laissez Faire"
The best thing any forum can do is put this issue at the top of the rules (about searching before asking) and then provide a kick-a$$ search tool.

Oh, for the rest of the world... go here:

Laissez-faire (French, "leave alone"), in economics, is the doctrine that the best economic policy is to let businesses make their own decisions without government interference. This doctrine of noninterference was first enunciated by the French PHYSIOCRATS of the 18th century as a reaction against the restrictionist policies of MERCANTILISM. Linked with the concept of FREE TRADE, it became the basis of Adam SMITH's classical economics. Later, Jeremy BENTHAM and John Stuart MILL applied the economic notions of laissez-faire CAPITALISM to utilitarian, individualistic political theory, and the Manchester school economists John BRIGHT and Richard COBDEN used them for practical

There will always be the same questions comming back for sure. Some don't know how forum works, some will not use the search function and try to find the answer. It's boring to the old members, but it gives a chance to the newbies to become helpfull and feel like they help others. :D

Funny part is, I never bothered to learn to speak French. I was quite rebellious as a kid. I used to hold the phone up in the air and yell out "DAD" whenever grandma or grandpa (from his side) called because neither spoke a lick of english except our names.
Now I wish I would've learned another language beside Spanish.

That, my friend is an excellent statement. I still do it. Since I am not a pro webmaster, mostly just a darn good Realtor, I love to help out on the easy ones!!! Makes me feel like I'm giving something back for all the knowledge I've gained.

French is hard to learn if you were not raised learning it. It's a bunch of rules with a bunch of exceptions. We use a masculine or feminine attribute to objects, so unless you know a bench is masculine and a chair is feminine, you will always mix the attributes UN and UNE, cause this is basically learned by heart. We also get to use funky characters like é â ê è ë ï ô æ and other fun ones of the kind... When doing SEO you are stuck trying to get :
téléchargement
telechargement
téléchargements
telechargements
Singular and plurial, with or without special characters cause lots of french dudes don't search with them... loads of fun... lol

Yikes! I never thought of that.
Well guys... I got to go. I have to drain the gas in my dirt bike, refill it with fresh, check the oil and tire pressure, etc. We are going riding tomorrow morning and then a first for me, paint ball-ing for a friends birthday. This weekend is most likely the last we'll see until fall in the upper 70's to 80 degrees so I better go and enjoy it.
Take care Jocelyn and Mike.

Actually , I am not in real estate either other than serving real estate clients with their web sites. It's amazing to see how many real estate agents and brokers know very little about search engine marketing and design. I am the mediator between the real estate and the internet marketing industry like many others are but want this to be the big melting pot. I am really happy to see people from all angles here, seo guys, mortgage brokers, vacation rental people and so on. Of course I want to keep this community at least 50% real estate related but that will happen anyways by default. Search engine optimization is and will be my thing, so needless to say, this (http://www.national-real-estate-directory.com/real-estate-forum/forumdisplay.php?f=60) is my neighborhood right here

Glad to be a part of your neighborhood. Mr. Rodger, ah I mean Mr. SiteTutor
Now "Won't you be my neighbor..."
BTW, tires were low on air, battery was dead and gas was bad. Looks like I need more time off to ride the poor thing. I added air, dumped the old gas and bought some Trick fuel 101 octane. The battery, well, I just kick started it and rode around my neighborhood last night and all worked fine, so I took it out today and "warmed it up" a bit. Bought a new battery on the way home today, don't really need it except to electric start or use the headlight at night. What a blast, but I slept through paint-balling this morning.
