anything from "how do I" or "what if"

How do I get rid of the "starter" comments or posts once I begin adding my own? Those homes have nothing to do with the market here.

just go to E/D blogs and hit the trash can, I just did it for you.
Now you can go ahead and click on New Blog and create your first masterpiece :)

Thank you.

Give me a minute...

You just wait...

When I have it, tell me if I'm on the right track or not. Feels weird being new at something. I love learning!

Okay, look now...

http://arizona.realestateforum.com/phoenix/mpellerin/

What do you think? Am I on the right track? How do I add pictures? I see the add picture and upload picture? Do I need to upload, then use the other button?

Hey Sarah, how did you upload pics? Or Corey for that matter :D

What...you can add pics to blogs

Real Estate Forum

Yes, one post per property. Everytime you want, you can add a new house for sale, add the pictures and write about it. You can link to the blog from your site and have it say " view new real estate listings " and can easily add houses for sale and also mention when a home has been sold. It will also allow visitors to ask you questions on the blog which will give you their email address when they do :)

There are still two problems with my blog. I'll post one at a time. The first one is that I have the photo up but I have more than the two lines of text that are showing when I view the blog on my browser. I thought maybe there was a total size limitation but the original listing that came with the blog was huge.

IOW, I have more text lines under that photo but it's not showing up. It is there in my editor. Maybe others can check to see if they're seeing more than 2 lines of text: http://illinois.realestateforum.com/oaklawnrealestate/judyorr/

Actually, now that I'm looking at that url it should be changed to cookcountyrealestate instead of Oak Lawn. Can that be done without having to start over?

I finally figured out problem #1. You have to click the "Read More" icon on the bottom right. Not sure if I like that and the original listing had more than 2 lines of text available before having to press the Read More icon.

See this one and look at the bottom two listings:

You guys are probably all still on Sunday 1st May and enjoying the weekend but I'm on monday morning down here and my blog shows a nasty empty page

http://nz.realestateforum.com/ptchevalier/index.asp?month=5&year=2005

rather than have to get a posting in really quickly the month thing should be abandoned for the index and just show the x most recent.

Hi Mike,

Just a quick note to let you know that the URL under the text here: http://www.realestateforum.com/blogs.html for my blog is wrong. It will not go to my blog. Add an i to my last name, Pellerin, not Pellern and the link should work.

I know mostly everything about the web and websites, All of a sudden I keep hearing about BLOGS, BLOGS, BLOGS, LOL WHAT THE HELL IS A Blog? ALSO I KEEP HEARING HOW GOOD IT is for search engine placement as well although my site is #1 already, very curious what all the hoop la is about?

sarahk

Too funny!

A blog is an online diary and it can be useful because it keeps your site fresh as you update "little and often" - or more easily anyway.

Take a look at mine: http://sarahk.pcpropertymanager.com/blog/ - it's not a good look commercially because I keep getting sidetracked and ranting about local issues (and looking like a redneck)

You say you are #1 - that's a pretty grand claim! You may be on one or two of your key phrases but are you 100% certain what searches people use to find real estate in your area? My suspicion from editing USA directory (http://www.pcpropertymanager.com/wsn4_1display.html) submissions is that people chase keywords which are way too broad and not what people actually use when they search (but that's another story).

The idea behind the real estate blog is that the MLS limits what you say about a property and this gives you an opportunity to be more effusive and drive visitors into a specific MLS listing. There are other things that need to be done too but I haven't seen that happening yet.

SiteTutor has some big ideas too, I don't know if he is on the same wavelength as me but there could be some great advances in the SEO of real estate over the next year. Should be fun.

I am actually #1 , I cover Harrison, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, Rye, Rye Brook, Port Chester and White Plains NY which are in Westchester County NY. I deal with Towhomes, Condos, Single Family Homes and Apartments for rent. If you do a search for example on Yahoo:

Westchester County Ny Apartments, Westchester Apartments, Harrison NY Multi Family for Sale or anything dealing with what I cover I am #1, But thanks for the Blog info. How do I get it?

Mike

If you're new to blogs I'd start with something like WordPress (http://www.wordpress.org/) or Blogger (http://www.blogger.com/). SiteTutor offers one but it's got a way to go before it's totally user friendly for newbies.

WordPress allows you to have different categories - ie one per suburb or one per property type and then put allocate the posts accordingly. It's also easy to find and edit older posts, to mark as sold or to update.

Blogs will evolve and right now realtors are stretching it to make them work but they are an interesting tool

That's a great start: http://westchesterapartments.blogspot.com/ but I'd have recommended keeping it on your domain and not splitting your content across several.

Google rewards large, fresh sites :)

I thought about having my blog on my site. I know Google loves BIG istes, especially ones that update frequently, but I want IBL's form my Blog and I want them from a different IP. So, I just signed up at LunarPges.com for $7.95 per month to get my blog off of Blogger.com.

You have a trade off there between
* lots of pages
* lots of links from a single site
* ease of maintenance

Let us know how you get on!

I've pulled my blog onto my personal site so that's obviously my preference. My main site is PR4 and my blog is PR5 so who knows what is helping what!

The only hesitancy I have is the direct link between my professional side and my blog - because I've got heaps of personal posts on my blog. I wonder if they should be separated - but I'm don't want to have >1 blog, unlike some people round here :) Then again my blog isn't for reading anyway, not really!

I know not very competitive ... but went quick.
Thing is there are about half a dozen agents fighting for page #1 so while it's not competitive in the normal sense page #1 is still a valued prize.

And I wasn't thinking of that blog, I was thinking about my Kiwi Geek blog (http://sarahk.pcpropertymanager.com/blog/) - so I guess I have 2 after all ;)

Yeh, your Kiwi blog rocks!

Matt (http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=phoenix+arizona+real+estate+blog&FORM=QBRE2) is moving too and you have number 1 for that in Yahoo! (http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=pt+chevalier+real+estate&fr=FP-tab-web-t&toggle=1&ei=UTF-8).

The domain name is golden, search engines love it :)

Soon as we get more power into it and the blog gets out of beta, we will rank anyone for anything :)
