My name is Ben. I have been working in the real estate industry for 13 years. I have not seen it all yet, but we sure are seeing what some bad press without any word from the other side can do to a real estate market--one at a time. I joined this forum to have contact with others actively striving to make a difference in real estate, where ever you may be located.

Perception is reality whether it is true or not, it is true. What is the perception of real estate where you live? In the past 3 months I have watched as Utah's thriving market has dried up in spite of unprecedented job growth and economic prosperity. It is hard to know whether we are really suffering here or if the national news has had such an affect as to alter the minds of home buyer and investors alike.

I look forward to participating in threads here and hopefully action throughout the nation to improve consumer confidence in real estate whether it is simply ownership or investment. Everyone needs a place to live and killing the market with criticism and negativity does not help anyone. Even if the market is horrible where you live or not we need to keep it positive, upbeat and solution oriented. The irresponsibility of the news/media portrayal of things only contributes to the fear and dare I say “terror” within the average American. I am scared of the fact that what most people see on TV or hear on the radio becomes true to them and suddenly that truth manifests itself(it may not even have been there before). I was given the DVD “The Secret” by a good friend of mine. The thoughts and feelings shared through that DVD hit home just as Napoleon Hill’s Book “Think and Grow Rich” did. Our thoughts good or bad will ultimately come out in physical form.

Please share your insight and experiences. I am anxious to learn and contribute where I am able.:)

Welcome to Real Estate Forum.

In regard to my market conditions, even though I've been reading about the "doom & gloom" in the press, things have been EXTREMELY busy for me the past couple months.

If the market were any better, I'd need to hire some new agents to help out. :)

The market is still moving along here too. Glad to know others out there have positive attitudes and business is moving along.

Real estate market in Florida seemed to get hit first. With the hurricanes, coastal/flood insurance and incredible amount of investors that were flushed out of the market. It seems to me the properties over 360K are getting hit the hardest. It will be interesting to see what the market does if the new Florida Homestead exemption increases. Primary home owners will have a sustantial savings but that doesnt help investors. Or does it?
