It doesn't matter that it runs out in 10 months or 10 weeks, it is all to do with buying an older domain which is trusted by the big G, it is probably not worth the 100 dollars though.

I can't see much history to it, it used to be redirected to forsalebyowner com and no SEO work was done during this time plus there is no links pointing to it - not really worth buying, only for an older domain.

Was it penalized? I read a lot of directories have been penalized lately.

It has a PR 0 because it was used as a redirect to another site. In my opinion its only worth $50 at most.
