I would slip you advertising between the two. Each places you ad on different sites. Yahoo does allow for a larger ad with more text, has a better interface and allows you to auto adjust the ad to the keyword. Google is displayed on more sites, but you get less ad and the interface is poor.

Both allow you to control the amount you spend on a monthly basis.

MSN and Yahoo are both fairly easy to optmise for in the organic results and, in any case, they have so little traffic that its hadly worth worrying about them and diffinetly not worth bothering with a seperate advertsing account.

I currently use Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing and have found that Google provides more hits. However, I recently read an article stating that Yahoo searchers spend more money online than Google searchers. The percentage was significant - above 50% (I think). If you're trying to get visitors Google may be the way to go but if you're trying to get purchasers you might want to stick with Yahoo. You should really try them all and find out which works best for you and your products/services.

I use all three, but not for every campaign. I run every campaign on google, then the ones that are more profitable and have a lot of traffic I'll run and yahoo and msn. Even though yahoo and msn have less traffic, it can still convert. Depending on the target market, yahoo and msn can convert better then google. Of course traffic is less, but it's all about conversion!

JBCollins,

Are you testing different things (titles, ad text) with your Google AdWords? Are you getting hits and they aren't converting? What's not working?

I prefer Google Adwords vs yahoo because my ads start instantly and are mostly instantly approved or not. Yahoo you spend all the time and effort to create your ad copy and submit keywords and then you wait 24hrs to see if they are approved. If Google's quality score likes your site your way better off. If however Google doesn't like your site or landing page your stuck with $10 clicks or moving to Yahoo or MSN.

I like adword, most of the traffic comes from Google. Yahoo too much fraud, MSN hardly any clicks.

True for Yahoo and MSN both, hardly any real clicks.

I would go for Adwords if you ask me. If you have a tight budget on what you want to spend daily. You can always go after long tail, misspellings, and match types that will lower the CPC.

I tried all 3 at the same time. First I canceled msn and did not notice a drop in leads. Then I canceled yahoo because of all the click fraud and I did not notice a drop in leads. That saved me $300 a month.

I canceled google and noticed a big drop in leads so I put it back up and the leads came back.

I would go for adwords for the US, I feel yahoo is better for international leads

There are many factors to consider when making this decision. Budget, Competition, Target audience, geographic location, etc...

I don't think there is one cookie cutter answer here although starting with Google is never a bad idea to get your feet wet and to see if the volume is there.

Google adwords can really rake up high advertising bills without significant results. Majority of people use google search for information purpose only not for searching good business deals. For business deals Yahoo is much better. Yahoo and Msn are known to be porvider of advertisements on quality products and not merely a search engine. For google it is just the other way round.

So as far as business decisions are concerned people tend to rely more on Yahoo than on Google.

I have done some pay per click on Yahoo and feel like there's lots of fraudulent clicks but I don't know how to prove it.

I have thought about doing the sponsored searches instead - because I've been told then you don't have to worry about the click fraud because you're not charged per click - you're charged a flat rate for that spot each month??? Is that correct.

It seems like the main thing I get out of PPC is lots of sales calls from companies trying to sell me sponsored search spots - however, I typically am not going to trust a sales person that calls me up out of the blue. I'd rather go with a company that is trustworthy. So if you have any good companies to recommend, I'd appreciate it.

Definately spend your time and energy efforts towards learning and using Google Adwords. 75% of internet users prefer Google.

I would recommend yahoo- due to the fact it is the simplest to use out of them all.

it really depends on your market. Yahoo just made a partnership with telemundo. Yahoo has a stronger latin market. Also, it all depends how you geo target your campaigns...
