I just started lens in Squidoo like two weeks ago and the lens are already ranked in google and some even on page one for our keywords.

Please stop by my lens and rank them 5 stars if you feel they deserve it!
And place a blurb, ( a comment) on my lens:

My lens are climbing in rankings everyday and just last week they were all ranked in google for our key words! It is pretty exciting!

My best lens is:

http://www.squidoo.com/TeachersOfTheSecret
with a overall ranking of 778 and in how to and education
it is ranked # 76. That is out of over 180,000 lens!

The next best ranked lens is:
http://www.squidoo.com/WellingtonFloridaRealEstate
this one is ranked 2325 overall and is on the first page of google for our keywords. This one links to our main website as well. Not bad for less than a month of working on these lens!

The one we are currently working on is:
http://www.squidoo.com/WestPalmBeachRealEstate

Thanks and stop by and see my progress so far.

Please share your successes. What exactly are you doing and what are the results you are getting? Are you getting leads or just high rankings in google?
Anything turn into business yet? You can go to my lens and leave a blurb with your lens and I will visit your lens.

Squido has been penalized by Google:

Any link juice you were getting is probably all gone until Squido gets back in the grace of Google.

The google slap will get worked out. It was because IMers were selling ebooks about so called secrets to getting traffic from Squidoo and so the spammers hit hard in one week. In one day a spammer in Brazil build 400 spam lens in Squidoo all on the same subject! Here is a link to a great interview with the owner of Squidoo, Seth Godin.

It will get worked out and pages will get reranked on google if they have good content which is what google wants.

so do you think your pages on squidoo with links to your site were penalized?

so do you think your pages on squidoo with links to your site were penalized?

My main website did not get the penalty. But for a few days my lens did get dropped from page 2 and 3 on google. They are working it all out. I believe as long as I provide good content, it is all worth it in the end. I am still showing up for keywords as I view my stats on Squidoo people are still finding my lens when they search specific terms. I will let you know how this all turns out.

I believe it was exactly 14 days when my lens emerged from the depths to occupy its previous position.

Even if squidoo gets back its juice google will still look at links from there to your site with a weary eye I am sure. That game is over for a long while now.

I have also heard and read weird reviews about it...though didn't use...I think it is not effective for getting ranking

ive used squidoo with some success. I signed up for it after the google slap, so not sure if thats why.

Just browse over the top lens' and see what they are doing. Add lots of content and different types of content. Submit to lens of the day too.

Yeah you should make use of every free service that allows you to create a blog/homepage/profile/video where you can advertise yourself.

Anyone here jump on the viral video bandwagon yet for youtube, yahoo video, google video, etc?

Of course you need a lot of free time to update blogs, sites, create and upload videos,, it is something that should be outsource.

Yes, it is good to use free stuff for advertising. But quality is also very important if you want to get real results.

Right on the money! Using social bookmarking sites is basically a shotgun approach and the links mean little to the big engines. Using your time to find links that bring real traffic is key to web success no matter what your ranking in Google.

An example: ask some top real estate bloggers to review your site and tell you what they think, how it can be improved. If they like the final result they will likely write something about your site or place a link to what they believe is a quality site. No matter what your rank in Google this will bring you real traffic from potential buyers.

What exactly does Squidoo used for?

You create lenses on a particular subject that are an expert in. So you would create a city real estate page and offer links to your site and other relevant links that users would find useful. You can look at some of mine here, feel free rate them 5 stars if you think they are good:

It may not be effective at getting a better ranking on Google...but it may be a good way of getting some more traffic to your site. Which is always a good thing :)

I have a feeling that within a period of time, this will be primarily what Squidoo is for. With all the spammers abusing squidoo, it does not nearly have reputation it used to have. Hopefully I am wrong about this...

I use Squidoo a little bit, not sure how much it really helps, and considering what they look like not sure what a consumer thinks when they land on one.

I have noticed that Squidoo ranks really well in the search engines and gets you some nice traffic, but for some reason, maybe because people are looking more for information in this case, Squidoo pages seem to not get you too many conversions. That's the case for me anyway. I think it's definitely worth it to have one or multiple Squidoo pages, but I don't know how valuable a tool it is by itself for financial success at least.

Squidoo is a very credible social site that drives you traffic.

Squidoo is a great resource and everyone should set up a page there.

The key is to grab your keywords as the page URL for your lens.

Don't use your name, use something like "utah-properties" or something equally relevant.

It's very popular with the search engines and well worth a few minutes to set up at least a basic lens with stuff linking back to your main site.

thought I'd post a chapter from my book :

Content and Copy
Just like the content on your sales page is important for the success of your Website, so too is the copy you write for your lens page. Your introduction and the body of your lens page should include strong and compelling copy that will encourage visitors to click through the links you have on your page.

The introduction or first paragraph of your page will be most important, because this is the first part of your page that will attract the visitor’s attention. If you do not have a dynamic headline and do not provide interesting and compelling information, visitors will skip on to another page.

Here are some tips for creating great copy for your intro paragraphs and page:

Keep your information short and concise.
Provided targeted and helpful information.
Explain clearly what benefits you plan to provide your visitors.

Some people find the easiest way to keep people interested in simply writing a review of the site or products they promote as their introductory paragraph. If you have a succinct and enticing description, you will attract more click-throughs.

If you can, also include an image of your product so people are more likely to click-through and get more information about what it is you offer.

Focus on your credibility and the benefits your product or service provides to others…

Remember, people do not want to see blatant sales copy, even though your copy must be strong. They want to read between the lines, and confirm you are an expert in the subject you talk about.

What About Modules?
Squidoo.com also uses modules to promote lens pages. Modules are nothing more than information boxes with content in them you add to your lens page. Typically you include modules after your introduction.

There are many customized modules you can add, including those offered by Amazon and eBay, promoting products listed on these pages. You can use one of these customized modules to promote your book or other products on Amazon or eBay for example.

Remember, your lens and your modules should be a subtle advertisement, not a walking classified ad. You want to keep the copy on your page relevant and valuable. Provide information your visitors may not find elsewhere, to entice them to click through to your sites and products.

Most people recommend you use between three to five modules containing relevant and hard-to-find information on your lens page. This will help improve your ranking and entice people to click through the links you put on your lens page.

Now, keep in mind you will not earn a lot of money from your modules alone. If for example, you select Adsense, Amazon and eBay modules as your primary source of income from Squidoo, you will probably make $100 extra dollars a month or around there. Where you make your real money is by increasing traffic to your WebPages and selling people on the products and services you offer or affiliate market there.

You can also use pre-made “write” modules on Squidoo.com that will allow you to link to your opt-in lists, a terrific way to help boost the amount of people you have signing up for your lists.

Another way to use a “write” module is to provide an intro to an articles page you may have on ezinearticles.com or another popular article-hosting directory. Once someone clicks through to your article, they will find your resource box to your webpage at the bottom of your article.
