Web-based Maps for Real Estate Listings

Hi All,

Hope to get some help...
I have a spreadsheet with listings of properties for sale, etc., as well as comps and private school locations. Anyone know if there is some software out there that will let me get the info on Yahoo or Google Maps. I have too many points to do it manually using some of the web sites out there. Looked at Streets and Trips, but it doesn't transfer well to the web.

Any suggestions welcome.

Didn't get any replies on this board, but in case anyone is wondering...

I stumbled across a few different solutions, including:
Juice Analytics

and geoXtract

Tried Juice Analytics, but it is clunky...geoXtract seems to have a lot more promise. Will be trying it out this week. Already create one map and it was super easy.

Hey there,

We ran into the same problem awhile back.

I will tell you how we solved the problem.

First, we stored all property information in a database. For each property, there was a latitude and longitude coordinate. If you have an address, the google map api can convert an address to a pair of coordinates most of the time.

Second, do a google search for a component called GMAP from afcomponents website I believe.

You can query your database with a language like coldfusion, php, or asp. You can transfer that data to the GMAP via a KML file that is generated through one of the languages above. Your properties will show up dynamically then.

he also needs a way to convert that spreadsheet into db format. a simple php script can do that.

in my opinion. google earth is a good resource, too.

You can do that with Google maps. If you're asking yourself why Google maps, it's because Google it's much more used than Yahoo as a search engine. But you can do that on Yahoo as well.
You'll just have to add the information in a database. After that, based on the home's address, get the longitude and latitude(a script can do that). After you have the longitude and latitude, you'll just have to show them on maps. If you want, you can add a search form so people can choose the homes they want to show up on map.

On one of my websites, all the listings show on Google Maps and seem to be the most impressive and easiest to see for the consumer. It helps them when they are looking for a specific area and might not know the streets there.

They are interesting and probabily more attractive to the user, as he can see the streets and all. But make sure you don't add too many of them on a page, it will take some minutes for the user to get the map
