Hello everyone. I have been in the SEO game for a while now and I have always found MSN the easiest to optimize for. I find that they have a shorter 'sandbox" period (maybe none at all) for newer sites and new, quality sites with original content and relevant inbound links can climb the MSN search rankings very quickly.
Does anyone know what the major algorithm difference is between MSN and Google or Yahoo?
Thanks.

You know, I've been using some tool that call Aurelis that from Germany. The tool is great itself, but also it has a lot of newsletters and they are keeping you informed about latest updates from SEO world. However, MSN has an easiest optimization. Google is by far the most complicated beacuse they are changing their mechanisms frequently.
Yahoo, it is also complicated but more stable. ASK.com somewhere in between.

I did all of my keyword, phrases, exacts with them, they worked with me on the phone, the support was outstanding, and they actually taught me many things, and I have only been doing that with them for about 2 weeks, the viewings are very high, in fact they called me this week and said they are amazed.
The clicks throughs have been wonderful, as yet no sales, but it is only a beginning and I am happy for it.
Other issue is the budget, my advertising budget is not very high at the moment because I am spreading it out, but would love to increase it with MSN because it is going to be great.
Visit us, and hopefully you will see us grow and in part it could be due to MSN.

The people that work there will help you in giving ideas as to what to do, however, with them they speak more about the PPC Ads that can get you in the top, but you have to have the Ad budget.
I am also working on trying to get the generic hits, without the PPC, but getting ready to hire an SEO company because this is so time consuming and trying to run business at the same time is difficult.

MSN is the easier of the so called big 3, but it just isn't getting the results it used to with my sites.
I had one site in the sandbox with MSN for 5 months! How frustrating it was, not being able to have a site come up in MSN for that long when you can normally get listed with high rankings in less than 1 month!
I am finding that google is not giving the best results at the moment even though all the sites are highly ranked, so I might revert back to yahoo and MSN to get some leads back in again.

MSN has been the easiest for our optimization too. We've had the hardest time optimizing for Yahoo!
@roofline - are you talking about PPC or organic results? Do they have support for organic optimization?

I have also heard very good things about them. They are also much cheaper than the alternatives.Who did you call to get started? Thx.
Trying to figure out all the ins and outs of the different engines is why SEO companies get paid so much. It is typically a moving target and near impossible to get it right for all three at once. Best bet is good basics should get you relatively close to the top...

MSN likes new sites. No sandbox period. I would not waste my time with MSN.
When was the last time you used it for a search?

Aurelis.. I will check it out.. thanks for the info...
I do not think MSN is the easiest one to be on the top spots..It still has only 10 spots on its first page like Google and others....... :)
It does take much less time to show up on MSN comparing to Google..........
Thanks

Not really alot. I would say 1 in 10 hits comes from MSN, but every little bit helps. Especially since I have moved so far down in Google.

MSN, to me, seems to have a quality paid search, meaning the clicks seem to be good visitors, as for the optimization, it doesnt seem very hard to optimize for. My rankings are much higher in MSN than google. Google is a tough one to get to the top and stay there in my opinion. Good luck to you.

If MSN is the easiest to optimize for, I would like to know how.
My experience on nearly all of my sites, and I have a lot, is that Google is the easiest, then comes MSN and Yahoo loves patience, because I have seen sites appearing after 6 months in Yahoo while they're at the top on Google.

I too have found MSN the easiest! I rank number 1 every time for any site i optimize for..
MSN is probably the easiest to optimize for, and there is very very little competition compared to google.

as a matter of fact, I'm having a hard time ranking my site to MSN. What are the strategies you use? are you doing the basic link building? What's the most factors should be considered to rank at MSN?

I noticed the short sandbox period on MSN as well. Definitely great for sites less than three or four months old.

It is very amazing thing that many search engine optimization experts totally ignore MSN Optimization during their campaign. So please you don’t include yourself among those.
To optimize your site on MSN, you must know these key steps,
MSN gives high priority to your On Page Optimization over off Page Optimization. Using techniques such as link farms can also ban your website over MSN. And of course, never use frame.

arre is right, there's a little competition in google..that's why it's easy to optimize for, but i still suggest you to optimize your site in google so that you'll be having a good competition and good market...

everybody now knows that google is the one leading so most probably all of them are focus on it...leaving msn to be quicker to optimize:)
