http://search.msn.com/news/results.aspx?FORM=MSNH&q=indianapolis+mortgages
the #2 result is indexed as http://www.imgascot.com and not
IMG Ascot - Indianapolis Mortgage and Loan Specialists Serving Indiana (http://www.imgascot.com)
Does anyone have an idea why?

Yeh we took the robot.txt file out - it's a pain taking on clients with sites you yourself didn't create. Amazing how some designers just use a pre existing site and then make a few changes. That is how this happens, they forget to take out code that doesn't even serve any purpose.

MSN definatly has a strange way of ranking. At least it gave me a few #3s and 1 #1 ranking.
MSN has been making it alot harder to rank on their search lately, I use to rank really well on that search engine, but it looks likes they done some major changes lately.
MSN has some strange ways of indexing sites. The site that I want them to index they do not want to do it but for my personal blog they are the best.I am first for all keywords related to it.
I will never understand this search engine.Hope that they change their algorithm soon.

That's how I have always felt. The things I focus on, MSN will not, in most cases, let me break the top 10. With keywords that are still highly targeted, yet I don't necassarily work them, or focus on them, I will sometimes be number 1. The traffic is mostly ridiculous from their engine, so I have found it best to forget about them and maybe check on some standings once a month.:p

My school of thought is different than most webmasters.
I feel that when looking at the long term and consistent rankings, MSN is exactly where you should be focus your efforts. MSN is the newest of the big 3 search engines and when they built the search engine, I assumed they tried to take the best aspects of Google, the best aspects of Yahoo and integrate that into their search engine.
Google, I believe, knows that they depend too heavily on backlinking, but given their size, they can't just change their algorithm over night. They would put too many people out of business.
MSN places value in regard to ranking on backlinking, on page seo and other aspects like blogs. As I result, I believe, over time, a site that ranks well initially in MSN will also over time rank well in Yahoo and Google with the proper online marketing techniques.
Just my two cents.

MSN is a pain in the arse at the moment - it has been spitting out some really weird results for some time now so I have just left it and concentrated on the others for the time being.
Hopefully they will pull their finger out and get it sorted as soon as possible.
