I left Homecity about 6 months ago and I had a couple of closes remaining with them. They refuse to pay my commission split as per out agent contract. The Texas real estate Commission nor the Austin Board of realtors will not become involved in commission disputes. Homecity has not responded to my attorneys request for a meeting. What can I do as I cannot afford to litigate even though they will owe me over 20K

File a law suit against them. That should be enough to motivate them. It won't be that expensive to file. File it with the knowledge that it is just a ploy to convince them to pay. If they don't, then back off if you can't afford it. Unfortunately, the way the system is setup, that is your only recourse. Your old company knows that and they are playing hard ball.
Another approach is to ask the attorney to take it on contingency. If you have a very solid case they probably will do it. If you win the case you can also ask for attorneys fees. I hope it works out for you.

You could also approach the local media about this issue. If there is anything a company hates more than a lawyer, its bad press.

Go back to your basic agency principles when you started your carear.
By law sales agents do not have listings or clients, BROKERS have listings and clients that sales agent get for them. As an agent you are only an extension of the broker. Legally those commissions are the brokers. Furthermore any agreement on splits, is no longer in effect if you leave.
Looks like you are sh*t out of luck. Before leaving a company in the future sit down with the broker and discuss these items.

It's called a Loiusville Slugger to the back of the head. That usually fixes the problem. Just don't get caught.
Don't let the schmuck get away with that crap.
Also, warn all the other agents in the office what he did, so they will not be the next victim.
No agents will means no business. Just what he deserves.
