After a recent post on resource zone from on of my members followed by me listing this forum's url and then followed by one of the editors mentioning linking to one of the threads in this category, I have noticed and unusual activity in this section by guests :)

I just want to welcome you to check out the rest of our forum as well and feel free to post here as well since many of our members and visitors have websites listed in DMOZ and do plan to submit more.

Maybe you guys can shine a light on some of the questions they may have.

have a nice day,

Mike

Welcome DMOZ Editors.

I’m sure you found our little forum due to some quotes you may have seen posted in RZ.

You will find that there are positive post about DMOZ and their editors here as well as those that have selective been quoted in RZ.

While some of the rhetoric here has been admittedly over the top, please keep in mind that when visitors feel that they have been treated rudely or unfairly they often react poorly.

Please take the time to post your perspective here on DMOZ or any other subject of your choosing.

I assure you that you will be treated fairly, courteously and with the same respect that any of our other members receive.

We look forward to hearing from you.

I have to agree that very often in life we go overboard. An action causes a reaction and things escalate. I am sure they are being spammed to death and bothered with many who are very rude in their attempts to get their web sites listed.
I know from having my blog spammed as well as having people ask me to get them listed in JoeAnt (no, I don't edit the real estate section :D ) and then PM me again and again and when I mention that I have been told by my head editor why the site doesn't meet the commercial listings guidelines, they started arguing with me. So it was a no win situation.

Anyways, it is all about balance and perspective but I have seen preferrential treatment which has bothered me.

DMOZ does have a huge impact on Google rankings just like the Yahoo! Directory. ****, I would be more than willing to pay an entry fee into DMOZ but that is not how things work :)
