View Full Version : Rules of the Forum ***PLEASE READ***

Hey All,
I have been reading how people are confused about the rules of the forum. Below I have outlined a number of the primary questions which have come up.
After reading these, some may think they make sense, some may think they are too stringent. From our point of view, we run this forum to benefit the people whom are members of the Forum. The way we see it, the Forum functions for the following reasons:
To serve as a community for real estate agents and real estate related professionals to share stories, exchange ideas and ask questions.
To allow consumers to ask questions of members of the forum in an anonymous venue. The Forum may serve other benefits for members, but first and foremost, it is a community. The following rules have been put in place to serve the community, maximize its potential to grow on the web and serve the members. The rules are as follows:
NO duplicate posts - These will be deleted
NO phone numbers in posts - These will be removed
NO mention of your product or website in every post. (That is what your signature is for). People found consistently promoting their product will be banned.
NO Email Addresses in POSTS. Please add these to your Profile or put them in your signature.
YES - be considerate of your other members in your posts.
YES - recommend others to join the forum. The more members the better the discussions.
Signature guidlines:
Your signature will not appear until you have a minimum of 15 posts in the Forum.
For a post to be valid, it must be 15 words in length.
Only 1 signature will show per page if you have posted more than once in a thread and your posts shows twice on that page. These are the basics which apply to most forums. The signature quidlines are too limit spam, one post wonders and keep the search engines still interested in giving us the rankings we have achieved since this website launched.
Thank you all for participating in the forums. Although you see advertising in the forum, the monies generated by the forum come no where near the time it takes to manage the forum so it is clear that there is an aspect of what we do which is our way of giving back to the real estate community.
Good Luck ALL with your continued success in Real Estate
BTW...Wouldn't it be interesting to see the combined value in dollars sold by the members of this forum in 2006......Just thought about that. I will have to work on how we could make that happen. Could be an interesting number :)

How often can we post ads. I come across about 100 wholesale deals per month. And so I would like to do as many ads as what your website would accept. I am not here to blast your site. I just want to know my limits.
I like your site. And I want to be a permanent member and I do not want to violate your rules.
Thank you so much.

Since the rules/guidelines have been set forth here in black and white, members now know what to expect and do not have to try to guess what is appropriate. When I joined up with this forum some time ago, the rules were different and I, like most people, are more comfortable knowing what is acceptable - and what is not!:)

Hi! Can we post a link to our site in the introduction of who we are (and what we do)?
And how do we get our signature to automatically display?

Is this something I can do in the control panel or is it a tag I have to carry around until I get a certain number of posts?

Maybe to rewrite it in a way that everybody see it at the begining of becoming member.

Sound fair to me. I have some links to my product (in fact is not preciselly my product, is my country where i work the realty) and pictures.
Talking about pictures, why donīt you leave the pics to appear on the threads?. that can add some color donīt you believe?.
Well thank you. The site is great and friendly. If you need some admin help here just say it.

I like this idea. I have integrated the basic rules into the Welcome message each new member receives.
Thanks for the suggestion.

New to the site and I appreciate you spelling things out. The site looks good and seems to be a strong source of information for both Realtors and consumers.:)
I was a little confused about guidelines when I signed up.:(

How to I change the remark that I am a renter under my name? I looked thru the profile options and didn't see where I could change it. I own my home and actually have investment property. Not sure people will think much of a Realtor that is a renter...

Thanks for nice explanations of rules of this forum.
Well one who introduced him self to the community at that time he needs to define what's his business and in which area his business is serving.
Let me know, is there bad sense for the same?

rules are rules, thanks for clarifying them.
it's a pain when you're not sure if the rules are the same from forum to forum
are you ok with affiliate links in the text?
Just like to know, not that I'm a big affiliate linker, and it would always be 'on target' linking ... not just some banner ad linked in - I'd do it from the text.
but it's just good to clarify prior to doing it and then getting the boot.

Ok... I'll try to follow the rules as best as I can... I'm not here to promote a product (unlike I am on most other forums,) I'm just here to learn.
BTW, about the wealth counter... it's a great idea. The guys behind wealthyaffiliate.com have a wealth counter on how much money their members have made selling affiliate products.
Unfortunatly, I had to quit the site, and I've moved on to real estate!!
I hope I do well...
Have a great day! -Edward Brown:D:D

Travel with clients from Miami and other points to country. There are many advantages of buying property in Costa Rica. You have the same ownership rights as a country. Property taxes are just
0.25% per year. Very stable Gov't. No army! I can go on.
If you have clients looking to invest in this exciting market please let me know. I have homes-condo's-land-hotel sites-developer sites, etc.

Thanks for posting these rules to the forum. I think it will help keep spammers out. How long does it take to lose the renter title?

getting a combined value of properties or deals sold through the forum would be an excellent idea. If you can figure that out you would make this forum more popular. I'm sure many more RE Professional would look at that and join.
Possibly a survey to all members to give aprox numbers for 06, 07.
Great Idea :D
