In a previous post (http://www.national-real-estate-directory.com/real-estate-forum/showthread.php?p=2024#post2024) I mentioned that it looks like one of our sites is being penalized for dupe content by Google because of 302 redirects.

Upon further review, it looks like the culprit is realestate4(dot)com and some of their affiliates that use a 302 redirect. In effect, because their domain has a higher PR than my domain in question, my site is pegged as the one with dupe content.

NOTE: I am still waiting for Google to confirm my hypothesis on this. In no way am I trying to disparage any of the sites using the 302 redirect. In fact, I have contacted them asking them to change their link programming remove the 302's. I firmly believe that they are unaware that G may be penalizing sites because of 302's.

If anyone else uses realestate4(dot)com, realestateim(dot)com, search4agent(dot)com, or realestateagentcentral(dot)com please go to Google and type in:

site:www.yourdomain.com

What you should see is a list of your pages that are indexed by Google. Each result should have a link with your page title followed by a page description. If you have any results showing as URL's only without the proper page title and a description G may be dropping pages because of their dupe filter.

Check all of your results and see if any of the listed URL's (in green) are from any of the sites that I mentioned above. Let me know the results - so far I have been unsuccessful in contacting these guys to discuss what is going on.

Keep in mind that even if you have links from these sites now and you are not seeing any page drops, you may see them in the future. Then again, you may not. I don't know what additional criteria trips the Google filter.

I link with realestate4 . com and all of my pages are currently indexed in G with the description. I went back and looked at the New York Agents and Brokers page on realestate4 . com and randomly checked about 100 links back to individual real estate sites and ALL links are straight html links, no re-direct whatsoever. I don't link with any of their affiliates so I can't speak for them.

On their homepage they have a link to realestatelinkexchange . com, so I can only assume it's an affiliate site. At realestatelinkexchange . com they do use a re-direct for their links back to Realtor sites.

I finally got a holf of the guys at Search4agent, and they assured me that they are working on the 302 problem.

You might also notice that a number of their sites are not passing Google PR on the pages where they place your link. This is because the site uses session ID's.

I let them know that if they get rid of the session ID's, they could probably make more money from SEO developers and agents that are looking for links with PR. I'll keep everyone posted on what I hear from them about this.

Anything happen so far on this?

Mike Wong is a pretty savvy fellow and I would think he would be willing to get it taken care of. I actually counted up his sites a few years back and I was able to find 125. I talked to him about a year ago when he was in Los Angeles, and I think he said it was over 200 now.

Anyway, I just re-created my "Where Agents Get Links" page that crashed a few months ago, and I moved the RealEstate4 link down to the problem area until I get word that the problem has been repaired.

If anyone has information that applies to this page, please pass it on to me. Reviews, sites that are good, sites that are bad, errors, sites that should be deleted, sites that should be added, and so on.

The "Where Agents Get Links" page is just for national sites, not local sites that have added directories or links pages.
