i recently bought and moved to my next door neighbor's house. reason being, it's a bigger home, extended driveway, and the lot is about double the size of what i have. i'm then selling my existing house, obviously, for less than what i bought my (ex)neighbor's house for. is this considered taboo? would this look bad to prospective buyers if they knew i litterally just moved next door? thoughts?

I don't believe there's a problem here. You have a genuine reason to do the move: bigger house, bigger lot, etc...all that staying in the same neighborhood that you like or that closer to your children's school or to your job. No problem.

you pretty much hit it on the nail for my reasons. my kid is a year away for preschool and there's a great one just around the corner. we just basically outgrew the other house. i was mulling over whether i should help show the house (for people who don't have agents, can't get to lockbox) since i'm just right next door to it but i'll just let my agent do her thing.

I wouldn't blame you at all. My brother did the same exact thing. Moved right across the street for the bigger house which happens to have 2 tax lots which he intends to build on the 2nd lot then move into that one and sell his current home.

As long as you are not asking more than the new house you bought you are OK.
Even if the buyer knows you from work etc. there is nothing wrong to move in to a bigger house and sell your house.
Congratulations on moving to a nicer and bigger house.
-- Tell them you old house made you lucky to make the bigger house affordable.
They would like that.
Thanks

Sounds like the perfect move to me, no truck needed. Just carry your things across the street and settle in.
Speaks very highly of the neighborhood, the new buyer of your home should be impressed that you chose to stay so close.
Good luck with the sale!

I don't think there is a negative issue with moving next door, its bigger you needed more room. And hey, you get to pick your neighbor by selling to who you want to.

Basically, I think it's nobody else's business why you moved.
If buyers ask you, tell them the truth; you needed a bigger home.

Another selling point is that since you have just moved next door, you will ensure that they are happy with the home. Afterall, you will be seeing them everyday!:)

this is seldom to happen.there's no point of discouragement in the part of the buyers. your reason is legit. and also, there'll be no more adjustments in your part considering its next door, plus the things moved out are easy to handle.
