Using Google to your advantage

A few months back I was looking at the features on the Google toolbar, I went into the Google Alert and entered my keyword 'Right to Buy' and put my e-mail address in. Now every morning I come down to a Google Alert which is a newspaper article about my subject or a TV story. I started to contact various writers and their editors. We first got published in the News of the World and they printed our freephone number. Then the BBC in Norwich were doing a story on 'door to door' selling, we contacted the BBC and gave them our website, they sent a filmcrew to our office (Cottage - caused a few giggles)- but they did an interview and it went out in the 6.00pm news.

But supposing you did the same on your subject Real Estate you can pick up local News stories and I really hope that it could lead to the one thing we all love, need and want - Publicity. Try it.

Definitely a nice tip. The question is, how were you able to only get local results with Google Alerts? My Google Alerts sends me articles and new blog entries affiliated with my keywords from across the country.

If there is a way to limit your results to your local area, that would be great. I never even thought about that... definitely something I will have to look into :)

Those are good results and that sounds like the thing to do. Let me offer that I have used several online PR web services and those links hang around for what seems like years - PRWEB and the like are very good

It's amazing the amount of useful tools Google provides to webmasters for free that can help you increase traffic and eventually make more money as well. Google alerts is one of the best tools they offer. Thanks for the great information!
