So, you site has a decent amount of web traffic, but you don't seem to be getting as many direct inquiries as you would like. For many web surfers this isn't because of your lack of product or services, it's a timing issue.

Many of your site visitors haven't fully made the commitment to buy a new home or relocate. They may start shopping in earnest in 3 months, 6 months, or more than a year from now.

There is a way that you can get a decent feel for how many people are interested in your homes or services but are not yet ready to pull the trigger. They may not contact you, but chances are that they will bookmark your web site.

You can easily track how many people bookmark your site by creating a 16x16 or 32x32 icon, name it favicon.ico and place it in the root directory of your web site. Everytime someone bookmarks your site, your icon file will be accessed. Then all that you have to do is check your weblogs and see how many times your favicon file was accessed!

If your graphics program does not support icon building, go to Qtam (http://www.qtam-computer.com/index.shtml) and download their icon tool.

BTW, for those unfamiliar with icons, these graphics show up next to the listing of bookmarked sites in your web browser.

happy home
