Suggestions

I"ve been re-designing a website related to real estate for my parents. This includes doing SEO work. The site currently ranks well with Google, MSN, AOL and Overture. That being said, I am currently working on a few things regarding SEO; as I learn PHP.

Anyway, I am looking for suggestions regarding their home page(index). I'd like to keep the layout as is along with the colors since the layout and colors present RE/MAX. I've re-designed the site using CSS.

Anway, What else else should I add to the home page, a picture of my parents to the left or right of their content?

I hate cluttered sites, so please don't give cluttered suggestions :)

Have you ever considered using any of the thousands of real estate specific templates out there or paying a designer a few hundred bucks to make it more professional?

Also, you need some visual contrast. Plus, you don't really need that copy on the home page. If you want a copy-heavy home page like you have, you need to follow the rules of copywriting.

A.I.D.A. If nothing else, lead with a hook to grab my attention as your potential client.

i do not see any of listings pictures.... your customers will not visit your site again... i think...

The site in your sig is a bit TOO light blue in the BG. It is too much on the average eyes. Also, consider fixing topmargin="0"

Sometimes you don't need to have the best design, in fact many people prefer sites that have more of a mom-and-pop feel (I mean this in a good way)

What you will definitely need to do is put a navigation bar or link on the Multiple listings page, there is no way back out unless you use the "back arrow" on you browser.

Otherwise the site is quite quick (except the multiple listings page).

What JuniperAvenue said is quite true, some people prefer a family kind of touch to who they deal with, more trustworthy and they feel safer.

Personally it is a bit boring but that's just me.

While the overall look of the site is really in the eye of the beholder, I believe one of your biggest concerns should be the navigation of the site. You should really look at the link structure and how user friendly it is to find the information they are looking for quickly.For example: the "View Our Listings" link from the main page takes you to a page without any listings...users have to click again to get to the listings.
