New Loan Cosultant in Los Angeles

I just started out in the business and I really don't know what to expect. I've heard everything from people making thousands and thousands of dollars to people not making it and winding up working at Macy's. Not to say that Macy's is a degrading job, but it is certainly below the comfortable means of a successful Loan Consultant. I really hope that evrything turns out well for me, I'll certainly try to make it possible. I would appreciate it if someone a little more seasoned in the business would give me some pointers.
