View Full Version : Small Vs. Large Agency

Hi,
I just passed my exam yesterday and am interviewing with several agencies in the area.
I'm still trying to decide whether to go to a large firm or small agency. The training offered by the large agencies is enticing, but there are two small agencies that I'm really liking.
My question to the more experienced out there, if a person is motivated enough to succeed in real estate, does it matter?

Your office name means little later on, but in the begining many agents rely on the marketing material, and name brand of a larger office. When talking with clients you can say "and our office sells xx% of homes int he area" and stuff like that. Later you will have the knowledge and skill that statements like that will not be needed.
If you go with a small office expect to pay for training that you are going to loose with the bigger office. What you learn getting your license will not prepare you to actually sell homes or more important how to generate leads.
BTW, I have been with Re/Max, a small (5-10 agent) local shop, and now Keller Williams. In our area the name Keller Williams ment nothing when I started with them so it was like going to a small company, now they have gotten big enough that people know who we are. Either way it doesn't effect my business IMO.

I started with a big company because they offered good trainning programs and it was perfect for me at that time. Since then, I moved to different companies, and each one of them offered me even more good things. The company that I'am with right now is fairly new, and a mid-size level, but I am very happy with their marketing ideas and offerings.
