Kind of a longshot...
Are there any international brokers/agents with knowledge or contacts for Latvian real estate, or investors for Latvia?

Hi G&S,
I saw that you were interested in Latvian Real Estate. I myself will be traveling to the very Southern part of "Estonia" (which borders on Latvia) in about 6 weeks.
I actually have lended money to my Brother -IN-Lawn who purchased land in Southern Estonia. I myself am thinking about investing in some Land in Estonia.
If I find something interesting I can pass it along to you. I will return home during the first week of January.
I saw one of your posts mentioned Rosarito Beach. when I had gone to San Diego about 14 years ago, my father had been in touch with a realtor that was telling him Rosarito beech was going to become huge one day. As I traveled through their I saw nothing at all. Is it really a good place to buy.
I plan on traveling to the West Coast of Florida and look for land, pre-construction home or newer home in the Cape Corale or Sarasotra area. Any info you coud give me on either of the above would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

Thanks for the reply Rob.
What kind of an investment are you looking to make in Estonia? Are you very familiar with the Baltics?
Actually, my family has acreage in (Kukas, Jekabpils) Latvia that we will be looking to sell. I am still in the process of researching the property and doing a little homework on the Latvian market. I don't know much about the property other than: it is apprx 70 acres, has a school building on it, and a commercial grade railway runs through the town on the way to Moscow.
Your father was right, Rosarito is booming. 25% year over year appreciation.
I don't know anything about Florida- I know there are a couple of guys here that do. It think Golf Guy is in FLA.

Hi G&S,
My wife is from Estonia---(Vaalga County) which is very close to Latvia. Her Brother-IN-Law bought some farm land in Jogeva County. The land is so good that a larger Canadian Company is buying quite a lot of it.
I am very curious. How much has the land appeciated in Rosarito Beach from 1991 to now?

What are they (Canadian co. and your brother in law) using the farm land for? I know my great-grandfather was selling lumber from his land- as much as it hurt him to cut the trees down.
I really don't know how much land was gone up since the early nineties. I've only begun to start to pay attention to it. The government has taken steps recently to make foreign investors more attracted to Mexico- and you can now insure title on purchases (as long as it is clean and not El Jido land designated for Mexican ag use). I posted the contact info for Glenda Vickery a while back...She has been in Rosarito for apprx 20 years now- so she would be a great source. She is well versed in all the new projects as well. Some development is taking place that is very progressive for area standards.

My Brother-In law who is an ethnic Estonian has Raspberry fields. He purchased the land mostly for investment purposes. According to him, Jogeva County has some of the most fertile land in Estonia. The reason this Canadian company purchased it was either for investment or they will somehow use that land for crop.

Very interesting Rob. Thanks for the info.
I'm still waiting for my family in Latvia to get back to me with more specific info on the land we own in Latvia.
Do you have any idea on price per acre for Estonia? (or hectare). It was told to me from one of the family members that some of the other land in the family was at apprx $10,000 an acre- but that seems a bit steep to me. Maybe they meant $10k/hectare- which would make a little more sense.
