Are there any good books on SEO, that I can read to help me understand all this search engine stuff better? I understand when people explain it to me but I do better when I have something to back to a reread.

The problem with reading a book on SEO is that by the time it hits the shelves, half of what you read does not apply anymore.
Because of the heated competition among Yahoo, MSN, and Google they seem to be almost constantly tweaking their algos (not to mention the bigger algo changes that they make once every 8-14 months).
Why not copy and past your favorite articles and ideas into MS Word? Then you could file the pages by subject, then print and read them at your leisure.

There are a lot of good tips here. But, like any forum, you have to search the archives and read through a lot to find them. Another place you could this is at WebmasterWorld.com.
